A Look Back at Our 2024

Karin Christen Avatar

After an eventful 2023, the year 2024 was once again filled with inspiring projects, new challenges, and exciting milestones. Together with our loyal clients, we had the opportunity to work on a variety of demanding and rewarding projects that reminded us once more why we love what we do.

In this post, we take a look back at some of the year’s highlights to celebrate the special moments, stories, and successes that defined our 2024.

Our Client Projects in 2024

Pro Helvetia

The year began with a highlight: the relaunch of prohelvetia.ch. A key focus was placed on the “Find Support” functionality, complemented by a sophisticated filtering system that simplifies navigation through funding opportunities and streamlines the application process. With the support of Access4all, a comprehensive accessibility review was conducted, and the resulting findings were seamlessly integrated to ensure an inclusive user experience. Migros Bank – Investment Overview

We further developed the digital investment overview for Migros Bank. The challenge was to transform extensive content (14 PDF pages) into a clean and airy design that prioritizes readability and user-friendliness.

Career Choice Portal Canton of Zurich

In 2024, we standardized the filtering functions for professions, apprenticeships, and trial apprenticeships, making navigation more intuitive. Additionally, we introduced a feature for bilingual education, allowing young people to easily identify apprenticeship opportunities available in two languages. And we also redesigned a new structure of the start page berufswahl.zh.ch.

We also worked on a concept for Phase 5, which aims to expand the application functionalities within the portal.

Business Geek SME Website

In close collaboration with our office colleague Adrian Tschopp, we created a new website for his SME. The project combines catchy headlines and clear call-to-actions with micro-animations to deliver a modern and visually appealing design.

Swisscom – New Blog for Private Customers

In addition to the Swisscom B2B magazine, we launched a new blog for private customers in 2024. This project highlights the flexibility of our WordPress Multisite environment and its ability to adapt to diverse needs.

Kaufleuten

Our longstanding collaboration with Kaufleuten Zurich continued in 2024 with exciting extensions to the event management tool. A notable addition was the introduction of a “Waiting Room” feature, which can be activated during high-demand ticket presales – such as for the Zivadiliring podcast.

Integration of VBZ’s New CI/CD

Our collaboration with Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ) continued in 2024 with the adoption of the new design in line with the City of Zurich’s style guide. This update particularly benefited the TrafficMedia and Extrafahrten websites.

Garmin BeatYesterday

Our German team contributed to the technical concept of a new feature for the Garmin BeatYesterday magazine. Through an interface, user data from Fitrockr is transferred to the BeatYesterday site and integrated into MailPoet newsletter lists. Learn more about the BeatYesterday magazine.

Konferenzen & Retreats

Switzerland Community Day

We actively participated in the Switzerland Community Day, where Karin led a panel discussion on the benefits of sponsoring open-source projects. Together with the community, she reflected on the importance of such events and their impact on collaboration and innovation.

WIAD Sponsoring with Freshjobs

The WIAD Zurich, which we have been supporting for several years with our job platform Freshjobs, also took place in 2024. Although Karin was teaching at FHNW on the same day, she managed to join just in time for the closing aperitif.

UXCamp with Freshjobs

This year’s UXCamp took place at the Zurich University of Arts. Representing Freshjobs, Velthy was on-site and engaged in exciting panels, exchanging ideas with other UX professionals.

WordCamp Europe Turin – Our Most Sustainable Journey

This year, we experienced our most sustainable trip to WordCamp Europe yet: a two-day cycling tour from Locarno to Turin. Upon arrival, we participated in the Contributor Day, discussing topics like accessibility and sustainability within the WordPress community.

This was followed by two incredible conference days filled with knowledge-building, engaging conversations, and memorable experiences in the beautiful city of Turin.

XMAS Retreat

Our collaboration extends beyond virtual spaces: in 2024, we spent time together in the Allgäu, staying in cozy tree chalets. It was the perfect setting to reflect, relax, and plan for the future as a team.
