Accessibility Check

Find out how accessible your website really is

An accessible website is a sign of respect, inclusion and quality. People with visual impairments, motor disabilities or cognitive challenges should be able to use your website just as independently as everyone else.

Everyone benefits from accessible websites, whether it’s through better contrast, clearly structured content or simpler navigation.

Accessibility isn’t just a technical requirement. It’s a mark of quality.

Digital accessibility has always mattered, and it’s increasingly required by law. Since the European Accessibility Act (EAA) came into force in June 2025, many companies in the EU, as well as Swiss companies serving EU customers, have been required to make their digital services accessible to everyone. And it’s not just public institutions: e-commerce, financial services and many other industries are affected too.

How we test accessibility

Human expertise meets recognized standards

We test your website against the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, conformance level AA). These guidelines set out clear requirements for accessible digital content.

Our approach combines automated testing with manual review to uncover both obvious and hidden barriers.

A sample report for the example site website.ch. Each row lists an accessibility requirement, a description of the issue and the affected link.

Among other things, we check:

  • Contrast ratios of text and interactive elements
  • Readability and scalability of font sizes
  • Alt text for images, graphics and embedded media
  • Keyboard accessibility: Can you navigate the entire site logically without a mouse?
  • Heading structure: Are headings semantically correct and properly nested?
  • Focus order and visible focus states for active elements
  • Clear link text that still makes sense out of context
  • Animation and motion: Can they be turned off or paused when needed?
  • Compatibility with Windows High Contrast Mode
  • Screen reader usability: Is all content read out completely and in a logical order?

Our accessibility packages in detail

Depending on what you need, we offer three tiers, from a quick overview all the way to an in-depth analysis.

Checkup – Test it yourself with our software

Want to see for yourself how your website is doing on the technical side? Our Checkup tool lets you analyze the key aspects on your own. It’s ideal for smaller teams, or for getting your bearings before a project kicks off.

What you get:

Perfect for:

  • smaller websites or landing pages
  • internal status checks
  • project teams with in-house developers
  • agencies that want to run initial health checks for their clients

Review – We run the check for you

Our Review is the perfect starting point if you want a quick overview of how accessible your website is. Combining automated tests with the trained eye of an accessibility expert, we review a defined selection of up to 5 pages, for example your homepage, two or three content pages and a form.

What you get:

  • a compact table of the most important barriers, with our recommendations
  • a 45-minute call where we walk you through the results, followed by a short Q&A

Perfect for:

  • getting a first impression
  • smaller projects
  • pragmatic action plans

Spotlight – An in-depth check and conversation

A closer look at selected pages or templates.
With Spotlight, we go a step further. We analyze up to 10 pages of your website and add a compatibility check with Windows High Contrast Mode as well as a screen reader test. That way, we also catch issues that aren’t obvious at first glance.

What you get:

  • a table of the most important barriers, with our recommendations
  • a report with screenshots and specific WCAG references
  • a clear, easy-to-scan list of findings
  • a 90-minute call where we walk you through the results, with plenty of time for questions and explanations

Perfect for:

  • websites of medium complexity
  • teams that are serious about improving accessibility
  • upcoming redesigns or relaunches

Audit – Our most comprehensive accessibility review

A complete, in-depth analysis of your website.

Our Audit is the most thorough review we offer, and its scope is tailored to you. We start with a call together to hear what you need, then put together a quote that fits.

What you get:

  • a detailed analysis of issues and shortcomings
  • concrete recommendations and prioritized solutions
  • a document you can hand straight to your development team or agency
  • two 90-minute calls where we walk you through the results, with plenty of time for questions and explanations. The second call gives you room to raise any new questions that have come up.

Optional extras:

  • tailored workshops to discuss the results
  • support during implementation

Perfect for:

  • larger or complex websites
  • laying the groundwork for future projects
  • projects with a full-scale accessibility strategy

Why accessibility is worth investing in

The web is for everyone

Accessible design isn’t just about access for specific groups. It makes a site easier to use across the board. Clear structure, good readability and intuitive controls benefit every visitor, regardless of age, device or disability.

Legal requirements

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) has raised the bar for digital accessibility in the EU. Switzerland hasn’t adopted these rules itself, but they set important standards that are becoming more and more relevant here too. Investing in accessibility early gives you a competitive edge and keeps you from losing out on important audiences.

A boost for your search rankings

Google and other search engines take many accessibility factors into account when evaluating websites. Well-structured content, clear hierarchies and technical optimizations improve your visibility in search results for the long haul. The reason is simple: the overall quality of your website goes up.

Build credibility and show social responsibility

Taking accessibility seriously shows social responsibility and underlines your commitment to diversity and inclusion. That’s good for your image with customers, employees and partners alike. On top of that, you actually grow your audience: by removing barriers, you make your website accessible to more people.
