AI Readiness Checker for Enterprise Customers
Artificial intelligence is everywhere: in strategy meetings, on roadmaps, in pilot projects and, of course, in production. But where does a company actually stand when it comes to AI?
That’s exactly the question Swisscom wanted to make tangible for B2B decision-makers. Not with yet another white paper, but with an interactive AI Readiness Checker that gives you a sense of direction in a few minutes and delivers some real insight along the way.
We at required got to design and build this tool, and integrate it straight into Swisscom’s existing WordPress environment.
The AI Readiness Checker helps companies size up their AI maturity honestly. We deliberately kept the entry point simple.
Users start with two basic questions:
- Is the company still in the proof-of-concept phase, or is AI already in production?
- Does it run AI solutions in the cloud or on-premises?
Why does this matter? Because a company just starting to experiment with AI has different needs from one already running it at scale. And because cloud setups come with different requirements than on-premises infrastructure.
Only once the starting point is clear can the result actually be useful.
More than just a quiz
At first glance, the checker looks simple and intuitive. Which is exactly the point.

Under the surface, though, there’s a fair amount of conceptual depth. Users answer eight questions across three key areas:
- Infrastructure
Is the technical groundwork in place? - Skills
Does the team have the expertise it needs? - Governance
Are there clear processes, responsibilities and guidelines?
With four possible paths, three subject areas, eight questions and five maturity levels, the number of possible outcomes adds up fast. For users, it feels straightforward. Behind the scenes, it took a complex structure with a lot of editorial logic.
A user-friendly backend
A beautiful front end matters. But at required, we never lose sight of the people who’ll be working in the system later.
So we built a tailored solution for the Swisscom content team that makes the 60 different text evaluations easy to maintain. Depending on the path, level and topic, the checker shows the right evaluation automatically.
The result is a tool that’s not just user-friendly out front but practical for the editorial team day to day.
- A clear structure instead of scattered text blocks
- Intuitive workflows in the WordPress backend
- Fewer ways to slip up across complex variants
- Faster changes, with no technical dependencies
- A system that stays scalable as new content is added

Thinking it through, not just building it

This project is a good example of how we work. We don’t just take a finished idea and write code around it. We think along. We question the requirements. We bring a UX perspective, technical know-how and a feel for content to the same table.
So the AI Readiness Checker was never only about development. It also raised questions like:
- How can we guide users through the check as clearly as possible?
- How do we map complex result logic accurately in the backend?
- Which visualization actually adds value?
- How do we avoid misleading comparisons?
That’s exactly where quality comes from: the details users never consciously notice but feel right away.
The highlight: comparing yourself with the community
Once they finish, users get their personal AI Readiness Score, presented clearly and easy to read. What makes it special: you don’t just see your own result, you can compare it with other companies.
Depending on the data available, the checker shows a comparison against:
- all participants on the same track
- companies in the same industry, once there’s enough data
That industry threshold isn’t a technical detail, it’s a deliberate design decision. An industry comparison only means something if there’s enough data behind it. Without that, it produces distortion, not insight.
A visualization you understand at a glance
How do you present a result that’s technically accurate and still easy to grasp?
We tried a few approaches: dots, detailed scales, lines, circles of different sizes. In the end, we landed on an elegant waveform, or density curve. At a glance, it shows where your company sits and how the other participants are spread out.

The result is light, modern and easy to read. Just right for a topic that can get complicated fast.
From results straight into the conversation
After the analysis, users get relevant follow-up content. And anyone who wants to can get in touch with Swisscom’s AI experts directly.

Here’s where something useful happens: when a user reaches out, the expert team can see the results. So the conversation doesn’t start from zero, it starts at the right level.
That saves time, adds context, and turns a digital self-assessment into a real starting point for a well-informed conversation.
Collaboration as equals
Working with Swisscom was dynamic, open and genuinely collaborative. That’s exactly how you build digital products that do more than one narrow job.
Together, we built a tool that points the way strategically, makes complex content easy to follow, and stays efficient to maintain day to day.
Our conclusion
The AI Readiness Checker for Swisscom is more than an interactive form. It’s a strategic self-service tool, a gateway into consulting and a smart WordPress product, all at once.
For users, it offers direction. For Swisscom, it sparks meaningful conversations with interested companies. And for the content team, it stays simple and efficient to maintain, complex logic and all.
At required, we love projects like this: technically demanding, conceptually rich, and genuinely valuable for everyone involved.
